JPEG bends

DSCF0051.jpg: i resaved at 800x600 using progressive compression setting 7, then bent. i really liked the effect i got with this one, where there's kind of a ghost of nick's face hovering off to the left of his body. i bent this one hard and it kept rendering the same in firefox and ie. i really wanted all my bent jpegs to render differently in different programs, so i kept on bending, but to be sure i had a record of that cool ghosting effect, i saved several "historical" captures that i took during the bending process. early on it broke to the point that it doesn't seem to open in internet explorer on windows. the first image is the actual bent image; after that is a section of the "historical" bends, and the rest are snapshots of the final bent image as viewed in various applications on various systems. if you can open the actual bent file and it looks different from all the screenshots, please take a screenshot and email it to me.

DSCF0051b.jpg: i resaved this as a progressive JPEG with compression setting 6, then bent it. seems to render the same using internet explorer or mspaint on my home computer. on my old computer, all these images tend to be identical to the "ie/paint" variations from my home computer; DSCF0051b-old-fox.jpg is virtually identical to DSCF0051b-bent-paint.jpg but is included here because the "ghosting" effect seen above is slightly crisper. the first image is the actual bent image; the following are snapshots of that image as viewed in various applications on various systems. if you can open the actual bent file and it looks different from all the screenshots, please take a screenshot and email it to me.
